Rumble Will Debut Its Newest Concept in San Francisco

It’s been almost a year since Rumble opened its first Bay Area location at Sansome and Pine, and the New York-based fitness enterprise is ready to bring that new new to San Francisco once again. This time, instead of another boxing studio, the company is debuting its long-awaited “Training” workout. Or, as Rumble’s Instagram followers may know it, Concept 2.

Like Rumble Boxing, Rumble Training, (3322 Fillmore Street in the Marina), is a 10-round, 45-minute strength and conditioning class. Unlike Rumble Boxing, half of the Rumble Training class is spent on Technogym Skillrun treadmills, while the other half is strength training on Rumble’s custom-designed benches, equipped with dumbbells and resistance bands.

If splitting your time between treadmills and strength-training sounds an awful lot like Barry’s Bootcamp, well… it is. And that shouldn’t come as a surprise. Rumble co-founder Noah Neiman is formerly a master trainer at Barry’s, and several of the local trainers in San Francisco—Alvin Holden, Charlie Mejia, and Jon Valencia—all worked at Barry’s Bay Area before joining Rumble. But, given the ten-round format, we expect the workout to have a different vibe, built around 3-minute intervals with plenty of spoiler alerts.

“Using our custom-designed Italian Technogym treadmills, we’ve been able to fully specify our user interface and console to make the running segments approachable, easy to navigate, and fun,” Neiman said. “The secondary menu will allow you to quickly get to the treadmill’s cues that the trainers deliver while having a backup projector system to display the entire 3-minute interval along the way.”

Classes are $35 each at the drop-in rate, but Rumble has a first-timer two-for-$35 special to Rumble Training. So yes, it’s pricey, but on par with the top tier of boutique fitness studios in the Bay Area. And with amenities like locker rooms stocked with Drybar goodies, you can sweat, shower, and be ready for brunch or dinner in a jiffy.

Rumble Training opens on Monday, October 21. Sign-ups for classes are currently live. For more on the Rumble experience, check out our guide to Rumble Boxing.
