Tech Fashion Week Starts Saturday, If That's Your Jam
There's zero chance that Kendall and Bella will be skipping Milan and Paris to attend San Francisco's Tech Fashion Week, but this Bay Area event isn't focused on gawking at the Jenners or Hadids of the world. Here, the superstars are data and the Internet.
This year’s theme, “Digital Fashion’s Coming of Age”, explores how creative vision and digital infrastructure come together in redefining the fashion landscape. The week-long event includes workshops, panel discussions and networking mixers, and highlights the applications of augmented/virtual realities, retail tech, wearables, the Internet of Things (IoT), and sustainability in the fashion ecosystem.
Activities start Saturday, February 25 with a walking tour and mixer at TEG, followed by a "geek style" runway show and awards ceremony on Sunday, February 26 at Taylor/Monroe. Highlights during the week include a virtual and augmented reality session on Monday, a women in fashion tech panel on Tuesday, and an environmental and social impact panel on Thursday. The full schedule is available on Eventbrite.
If you're on the hunt for a hot new dress for fall, you should probably just queue up the collections on Vogue. But if you think information is sexy, you can purchase Tech Fashion Week tickets, ($10-$30), here.
