How to Score a Free Month of Rent the Runway Unlimited This Week
Rent the Runway is coming to San Francisco this week to promote its WeWork partnership with a two-day pop-up in four SF locations. And (almost) everyone who attends will receive a free month of RTR Unlimited. That’s a $159 value, for you numbers-focused folks.
Here’s the scoop on the business side. Rent the Runway Unlimited is a subscription service that gives you unlimited access to over 500 designers and over 600,000 styles. (You can read the Rockyt review of the program here.) Inventory covers casual to cocktail to formal, and includes apparel, handbags, and accessories from designers like Marni, Derek Lam, Prabal Gurung, Rag & Bone, Gucci, and Jason Wu. Members can keep their items for as long as they want and swap them out whenever they are ready for something new.
In its O.G. days, RTR customers ordered looks online and mailed garments back and forth, typically one dress at a time. Later, RTR started opening brick and mortar locations where you could try on garments, and place online orders. That practice gave way to a rental shop experience, where clients could either pick up or drop off their rentals in person, or stick with the mailing system.
Around the same time that RTR started expanding its rental shop program, monthly subscriptions became more popular. Brick-and-mortar dropoff points were especially compelling for monthly RTR customers, because their new items would ship as soon as the returned items were checked in, (compared to the usual two-day delay with shipped returns). With the WeWork partnership, RTR has installed RTR dropoff centers in WeWork coworking spaces, which means WeWork users can return their RTR orders at the office and get new orders faster.
And that brings us back to the pop-up parties. If you haven’t had time to wander to RTR’s new San Francisco store on Post Street, RTR is bringing a mini-shop experience to four SF WeWorks this week: Thursday November 29 at WeWork Embarcadero and WeWork Golden Gate, and Friday November 30th at WeWork SOMA and WeWork 600 California. If you’re new to RTR Unlimited, you can get a free month trial of the service for free, just for stopping in.
Even if you’ve already tried the service, there will be snacks and “Instagrammable moments” at the pop-ups, plus a cocktail hour at WeWork Embarcadero Center on Thursday, November 29 at 6 pm. (Think: manicures, giveaways and photos.)
Dressing for holiday parties gets expensive quickly. If you’ve ever considered a subscription program like RTR Unlimited, now’s the time to dive in. Especially if you can do it for free.
