The Only Place to Shop Codognato Outside Italy Is in Union Square
When you need a break from holiday shopping and ice-skating in Union Square, be sure to stop by the Serge Sorokko Gallery for a special exhibition by Venetian master jeweler Attilio Codognato. This is only the second time in more than 150 years that Codognato’s pieces have been presented and available for sale outside of the company's shop in Venice.
What is Codognato, and why haven't you heard of it? The company is known for featuring serpents and skulls in combinations of gold, silver and precious stones. Their pieces have developed a dedicated following, including 19th and 20th century royal families of Europe and style icons such as Maria Callas, Coco Chanel, Luchino Visconti, Elizabeth Taylor, and Jackie Kennedy Onassis among others.
Memento Mori: Jewels by Codognato opened last week, and runs through January 2018 with a range of pieces from the history of Codognato, both new and archival. Stop. Gawk. Shop. But whatever you do, do it now; the exhibit won't be around for long.
