Color Factory Is Coming Back in 2018
Look, I don't want to start a war with the Museum of Ice Cream, because I really, really love ice cream, but Color Factory is a maybe a million times better than MOIC. There's no one rushing you from room to room. The rooms/displays aren't covered in dirty shoe prints—which, to be fair, will happen when you have ice cream dripping throughout a building. Color Factory ($32) is also cheaper than MOIC and it has better lighting. The lighting may seem like a picky detail, but when you're going to a place where the primary draw is good Instagram photos, there needs to be good lighting.
The last time Color Factory released tickets (and immediately sold out), the organizers warned us that it would be the last extension for the pop-up installation. It seems, however, that they have had a change of heart because tickets for January and February 2018 will go on sale Thursday, December 7 at 11 am PST. They announced on Instagram that they're coming back "better than ever," so hopefully that means a few new surprises inside those brightly-colored walls.
Dying to go? I recommend keeping the ticket site open in a browser tab an hour or two before the sale starts if you're really serious about going. Good luck!
