5 Reasons to Get Lost in the Fog Design + Art Fair
Hey there, art lovers! (Folks who pretend to love art, but really just like gallery openings, we're talking to you, too.) Now that you're finished with holiday gifting, it's time to start 2018 with some fancy new things for yourself.
FOG Design+Art is back with its fifth annual fair, January 11–14, at Fort Mason Center, and it's the perfect opportunity to dive into new art. Festivities begin with a preview gala on Wednesday, January 10 to benefit the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), followed by four days of design-drenched goodness. Here are five reasons to add the event to your calendar.
1. It's a big deal in the contemporary art world.
Celebrating the most significant creatives and contributors to the design and visual arts scene, the fair assembles 45 leading galleries from around the world, as well as prominent 20th-century and contemporary design dealers.
2. It's more than just an uber-gallery.
In addition to displaying contemporary works in the FOG gallery, the fair includes 13 additional panel discussions and events over the weekend. (Check out the full schedule here.) Don't forget to read the fine print! Some of the events require additional registrations/fees.
3. 21Pop
Event designer extraordinaire (and Meraki Market proprietor) Stanlee Gatti created 21Pop, a special installation just for Fog Fair. If you're in the mood to experience something fabulous, this is it.
4. Go again...and again...
Instead of a one-time entry ticket, your admission fee ($25 on Eventbrite or $30 at the door) will get you in the door through the weekend. Go early, go often, and take as much time as you need.
5. The FOMO is real
Everyone you know will be there having a great time. Don't just sit at home clicking through Instastories singing "All By Myself" in your pajamas. Buy your tickets, put on your most avant-garde outfit, and be a part of the scene.
