The Only Thing Standing Between You and Goop-y Wellness Is $1000
Since its launch in 2008, Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop has endured criticism for luxury gift guides, giving rise to the term “conscious uncoupling,” and introducing jade yoni eggs into the mainstream consciousness. Admittedly, the site isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Most people who love it enjoy more disposable income than the average American. But is it culturally relevant? Hell, yes. When Goop introduces a new idea or product—the more outlandish, the better—people pay attention.
And that brings us to In Goop Health, the site’s IRL wellness gathering. Coming for the first time to the Bay Area this weekend—Saturday, November 16, 8:30 am—7 pm—the summit will include panels and chats hosted by Paltrow and Goop Chief Content Officer Elise Loehnen, restorative workshops and classes, a pop-up Goop shop, a wellness hall, damn good food and drinks, and a swag bag. It’s all going down at the Craneway Pavillion in the East Bay, aka, the same spot where A Current Affair happens. VIP tickets, which go for $2500, are already sold out, but you can still score general admission entry for the relatively-reasonable price of $1000.
The four-figure price tag will get you access to all the talks, entry to four classes, all-day food and drinks, self-care stations (which will include B12 shots), a welcome kit, and a gift bag with beauty and wellness gear worth $1000. Organizers also promise “surprises.”
Does that mean that everyone with spending power on their credit cards should snap up a thousand-dollar ticket right now? Of course not. But if you love Goop and outside-the-box self-care, it’s supposed to be a really love event. We’ll be shocked if the event doesn’t hit capacity. Got a free Saturday and $1000 to spare?
