When You Can't Go Shopping in India, Let India Come to You
Shopping for traditional Indian clothing stateside can be challenging. If you want lots of options—along with the latest trends and styles—your best bet is a trip to India. But that's time-consuming and expensive, and it's hard to keep up with the latest trends unless you're making regular trips across the ocean.
Golden Threads, a Hyderabad-based brand that specializes in Indian bridal wear, is making the process a little easier by coming to the Bay Area. The brand regularly hosts pop-up shops in cities around the US, and will be setting up in Newark this weekend.
The free event, billed as a Diwali pop-up shop, will be at the Newark-Fremont DoubleTree Hilton (39900 Balentine Drive) on Sunday, September 24 from 10:30 am until 7 pm. Golden Threads encourages you to "register" through Eventbrite, but I doubt they would turn you away if you just show up to shop.
And yes, Fremont may be a long haul from the city, but at least it's a shorter jaunt than Hyderabad.
