Joseph Cozza Salon Is Bringing Back the Union Square Fashion Show

In the 1950s, decades before San Francisco became known for hoodie culture, Union Square department stores would send models down a runway in the middle of the square each year. It was a glamorous event, and Joseph Cozza Salon wants to bring that glamour back. Tonight, Thursday, May 16, the salon is hosting A City in Color, a fundraiser fashion show that will feature looks created and styled by local outwear designer J’Amy Tarr.

While the event was originally planned as an outdoor soiree in Union Square, the rainy forecast has forced the program indoors this year to The Village (969 Market Street). In addition to showcasing Tarr’s outerwear and the salon’s hair and makeup talents, there will be live performances by  ‘America’s Got Talent’ finalist singer Kechi and electric violinist Spags. Mural artist Shane Grammer will also be painting a piece of artwork during the event to be auctioned off. All funds raised will benefit UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and Blue Heart International.

The party starts at 5 pm and lasts until 8 pm. Tickets, starting at $300, are available on Eventbrite.
