San Francisco-based Plae has been churning out sleek, comfortable kicks since 2013, and has become one of our favorite brands for travel. Both the men’s and women’s leather styles are easy to dress up or down, which is critical for anyone living out of a suitcase. But now Plae has released an even easier option for life on the road: the packable sneaker.

Inspired by vintage football and soccer cleats, the packable sneakers have leather uppers that are designed to be smushed, delivering the polished look of a street sneak with the convenience of a flip flop. (They even come in their own compression bag.) The soles—which are lighter than the standard Plae soles— have a pebbled texture that’s great for gripping. The Sun style is available in four colors, (red, teal, white, and black), and retails for $89. For an extra $10, you can get the waterproof Ecols style, (pictured above), available in black or white.

When you’re trying to limit yourself to a carry on—or keep your checked luggage below a certain weight—every bit of space matters. If you’re looking for sneakers with maximum travel potential, it’s time to try Plae.
