The biennial Modern Ball is in hibernation this year, but the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) will keep you nonetheless entertained in April with a Birthday Bash celebrating its first year in the Snøhetta-redesigned space.

Oh, and by the way... Solange will be there.

The April 26th event will unfold in two concurrent parties: the Birthday Supper, a seated dinner in the museum’s fifth-floor Jean and James Douglas Family Sculpture Garden, and the Surprise Bash, an interactive art experience in the museum’s seventh-floor galleries. Both parties culminate in the Late Night Bash featuring singer/songwriter and altogether glorious performance artist Solange Knowles. There are a ton—maybe literally?—of artists and performers taking the stage over the course of the evening, so plan to scamper between all seven levels of the museum trying to see everything.

Dress code for the evening is "monochromatic attire", and the organizers suggest that you be "bold" in your choice of color. Who knows what that will mean for Solange, but I'm sure it will be mesmerizing and endlessly covered in magazines.

Tickets for the birthday supper have sold out, but you can email bash@sfmoma.org if you want to get on the waitlist. Tickets for the Surprise Bash ($1200) and the Late Night Bash ($200-$350) are available.

Start planning your monochromatic masterpieces now. This is going to be the scene where you want to be seen.
