Your Saturday Shopping Plans Should Include a Trip to Fillmore Street
There are a lot of things we don't know about this weekend. (Who's protesting. Who's counter-protesting. Where any of these things are supposed to happen.) But the one thing we do know is that the Fillmore Merchants Association will host its second Shop OUT Day, a day-long fundraising event to benefit the SF LGBT Center, on Saturday, August 26.
Participating Shop OUT Day merchants include Alexis Bittar, Atelier Cologne, Eileen Fisher, Fitness SF, Gallery of Jewels, Gotherx, Hi Ho Silver, Invision Optometry, Jigsaw London, Jonathan Adler, Lilith, Margaret O'Leary, Renaissance Salon SF, Space NK, Spice Ace, Superga, Toujours Lingerie, Wine Jar, and Zinc Details. (Look for the signs in store windows.) Ten percent of all sales at partner stores this Saturday will fund critical services for the LGBTQ community. The day-long event is also a chance for merchants to recognize and celebrate rich history of the LGBTQ community in San Francisco while giving back to those most in need.
Now that Crissy Field is covered in dog poop and the Patriot Prayer rally is cancelled (or moved or changed to a press conference), maybe you can squeeze in a spot of LGBT-friendly shopping between brunch and that Castro counter-protest rally.
