Meet the Marin-Based Brand Making Feel-Good, Giftable Jewelry
The onslaught of heart-shaped everything at Valentine’s Day can be a turnoff for those among us who can’t picture literally wearing our hearts on our sleeves or serving dinner from the heart of a limited edition Le Creuset. But subtle, year-round hearts? That’s something we can get behind. Especially when it means supporting a local, woman-owned company that’s made charitable giving part of its brand identity.
Marin-based Collective Hearts isn’t doing anything especially novel when it comes to design. Its heart-shaped earrings and necklaces are simple, and easily layered, which works well in our jewelry-stacking obsessed moment. (Have you even accessorized if you only wore one necklace?) The feel-good factor in this company comes from the fact that all the pieces are handmade in Northern California, and every purchase from the line supports the Jacmel Children’s Center in Haiti.
Collective Hearts designs are made from 14k gold fill and sterling silver, so they’re relatively inexpensive, as far as jewelry goes—most prices range between $20 for a ring to $170 for a large double-heart necklace with beading. (In other words, an ideal price point for Galentines gifts.) We’ve linked a few or our favorites in the gallery below, but you can check out the full range online or shop in person this month at the Pavilion pop-up at the Bar Code (3600 Sacramento Street).
