If you’ve consumed any media whatsoever in the last week, you know that you should be washing your hands non-stop to reduce your chances of contracting or spreading the coronavirus should it sweep the Bay Area. When good ol’ soap and water are not available, experts recommend using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content. But if you’ve made a pass through your local Target or drugstore, you’ve also learned that San Francisco is pretty much sold out of hand sanitizer right now. Even worse—shudder—so is Amazon. But there’s still a small stock of hand sanitizer out there, if you know where to look.

Below, we’ve assembled six options that meet the 60% alcohol content threshold and are still available online (as of Monday, March 2). Plus, we’ve got links for where to find them.

Update, 3/4/2020: Most of these are now out of stock as well. The Aesop travel kit is still showing up as available at Neiman Marcus, and the Megababe still seems to be available online. Alys Grace brick and mortar stores in the Bay Area still have a few bottle of the Jao sanitizer.

Aesop Departure Travel Kit, $53

Aesop’s beloved rinse-free hand wash is sold out on its own, but available at a handful of retailers, at Neiman Marcus, in a 50 ml version as part of a 7-piece travel kit.

Ulta Eucalyptus Mint Hand Sanitizer, $2

A cheap travel-size option, this Ulta hand sanitizer is still available to order online, and the Ulta website is showing stock available at both San Francisco locations.

Bath and Body Works Pocketbac Hand Sanitizer 5-pack, $7

Immerse yourself in fruity-scented nostalgia with this tropical-themed mini-sanitizer multi-pack. If tropical scents aren’t your jam, the Warm Vanilla Sugar multipack is also available.

Megababe Squeaky Clean Hand Sanitizer, $6

From the brand that brought you the OG anti-chafing stick for your thighs and organic Rosy Pits deodorant, this option includes sweet almond and marula oils for hydration, plus a natural citrus scent derived from orange oil and bergamot. Available at Ulta (online only) and directly at Megababe.

Jao Refresher Sanitizer, $10

While larger sizes are sold out, this travel size version of clean-beauty favorite Jao Refresher is still available at Credo and Madewell.

Dr. Bronner’s Hand Sanitizer, $4.99

While sold out at most retailers, Dr. Bronner’s is still taking orders for its Lavender and Peppermint Organic Hand Sanitizers.

As you’re shopping for virus-fighting supplies, think outside the box. Bed Bath and Beyond, for example, sells lots of household supplies and may still have hand sanitizer or wipes, even when Target does not. Cole Hardware sells household items as well, and has locations throughout the city. Walgreen’s has an inventory locator feature on its website, so you can check Purell stock levels instead of wasting time hopping from store to store. Be smart and don’t hoard all the germ-killing items; with a little cooperation, we’ll probably ride out this coronavirus scare unscathed.
