Michelle Obama's Favorite Designer Pops Up in SF With Her New Line
Back when Barack Obama was running for president in 2008, Michelle Obama was wearing Maria Pinto sheaths practically as much as she wore J. Crew. But, despite boasting one of the most visible fans in the world, Pinto's namesake line couldn't withstand the Great Recession. Now, Pinto is back with a new line: M2057 by Maria Pinto. The collection—made from high-tech, machine-washable, wrinkle-resistant Italian fabrics—is sold online at M2057.com and at the M2057 Style Studio in Chicago, but—this week only— you can shop it in San Francisco.
Pinto has been hosting pop-ups around the country, and now it's the Bay Area's turn to check out the clean, minimalist M2057 aesthetic up close. Starting today and running through Sunday, October 8, you can shop M2057 at Villa Fontaine (411 Vermont Street in Potrero Hill). The pop-up will act as a guide shop, so you can see and try on the collection while placing orders for the pieces to be delivered directly.
“I wanted to solve the problem women have of, ‘What can I wear that will look good all day, that’s easy to wear, and that makes me feel beautiful?’” says Maria. “M2057 is fashion that keeps up with women’s busy lives and inspires confidence.”
It may be San Francisco summer, but Pinto's fall line is brimming with beautiful options for the cooler, wet weather that's hopefully coming in November. (I'm really digging this wool wrap and funnel neck dress.) Stop in, shop, and maybe you'll even have a chance to ask Maria all your burning MObama questions. You know you want to...
The M2057 pop-up shop at Villa Fontaine, 411 Vermont Street, is open from Monday, October 2–Sunday, October 8 from 11 am–7 pm daily.
