Sweaty Betty Is Comin' in Hot on Union Street
I don't think anyone walks down Union Street in Cow Hollow and says, "What this area really needs is an activewear shop." With Lulu, Lucy, Lorna Jane, Nike, and Titika all within a half-mile radius, there's already a wealth of spandex and sweat-wicking apparel in the area.
But one more option can't hurt, right?
This week, London-based activewear brand Sweaty Betty opened the doors to its long-awaited San Francisco location at 2086 Union Street. (That's the former Nine West spot.) It will be the retailer's sixth California location, joining Palo Alto, Newport Beach, Santa Monica, Venice, and West Hollywood.
The space is 2100 sq. ft, and oh-so-conveniently located across from SoulCycle, making it that much easier for you to stock up on printed workout gear and reversible leggings on your way to or from your sweat sesh. As an added bonus, the spot has kombucha on tap all day, every day for shoppers.
Sweaty Betty makes workout gear for studio classes (like Spin or HIIT), running, tennis, yoga, and swimming, as well as the athleisure-styles that have become part of the California uniform. Beyond the polarizing leggings and bomber combo that's come to symbolize the trend, the brand's sports luxe range includes jumpsuits and dresses that read more Barney's than Barry's.
Finally, you can dress for the gym (and post-gym life) like a posh Londoner.
